President’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Gale PrinceGale Prince is the recipient of the IAFP 2015 President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is given at the discretion of the Association President to recognize an individual who has made a lasting impact on “Advancing Food Safety Worldwide” through a lifetime of professional achievements in food protection. Following an award-winning career in food retailing with The Kroger Co. and since retiring, Mr. Prince has created a second career by helping others around the world in food safety problem-solving, whether consulting or public speaking on food safety.
Mr. Prince is a pioneer in the field, dedicating his career to the advancement of the food safety professional. He has been a mentor and inspiration to numerous IAFP Members since joining IAFP in 1968. Mr. Prince is one who has made a difference in impacting the culture in U.S. food safety programs. He is often called a “Visionary” in establishing food safety programs focused on prevention, and is a master in building partnerships in advancing food safety.
Mr. Prince served as IAFP President in 1998. He received the IAFP Honorary Life Membership Award in 2008, the President’s Recognition Award in 2007, the Harry Haverland Citation Award in 2006, and the Fellows Award in 2005. His past leadership as Chair of the IAFP Foundation brought individual IAFP Members and business partners together with contributions of nearly one million dollars to support the advancement of food safety around the world. These efforts helped establish the IAFP Student Travel Scholarships, enabling recipients to attend the Annual Meeting, and with sponsorship of IAFP international meetings to address food safety worldwide.
With food safety issues increasingly complex and global, Mr. Prince’s pathfinding work will stand as a benchmark of how to combine passion and science on behalf of the world’s consumers.
